The Festival of Light

Saturday
6th November The Festival of Light is one of Girvan's best events offering a unique night of entertainment.
The Festivals roots lie in the traditional bonfire night celebrations and the Celtic fire festival it replaced, born of a desire to transform the night from one of explosions and flashes into one of genuine community celebration. The simple idea to bring some light into peoples lives through the works created by children and to bring a smile to peoples faces.
Lore and Legend 2010 Carrick Festival of Light six weeks of community and schools lantern workshops ending on Saturday 6h November with the amazing river of light lantern procession and shorefront performance.
River of Light
This year’s six week community outreach lantern workshop programme will involve 15 rural villages and towns in school and community workshops; creating individual and large scale lanterns for a community lantern procession, led by samba and pipe bands, forming a free flowing celebration of the visual arts in Carrick .
