Travel & Tourism

The unspoilt, outstanding coastal and inland scenery of our area awaits you. Whatever type of holiday you are looking for Girvan has something to offer.

You might want to just relax and enjoy the wonderful views of the sea and Ailsa Craig or the lush green hills of the countryside. Enjoy a stroll through the town, along the beach or even attempt some of the many walkers trails that are available in the area. Drive along the coastal road or head inland to explore this scenic area.

If you are looking to take part in some activities, Girvan boasts a range of gentle and extreme sporting activities and you won't be stuck if you want to indulge yourself in some arts and crafts.

Girvan was first launched as a holiday destination with the arrival of a steam packet service and the railway in 1869. In the summer, holiday makers would triple the towns poulation and line the harbourside, drawn to the spectacle of the fishing fleet offloading glittering catches. Golden sands would provide young and old alike with memories of warm hazy days, melting ice creams and rolling waves or tempestuous storms.

Dominated by the volcanic plug of Ailsa Craig, Girvan to this day remains one of the most beautiful and unspoilt seaside towns in the South West of Scotland with it's fantastic scenery and wealth of history on it's doorstep.

There is something for everyone in Girvan, whether you want to stay awhile, experience a short break or just visit us for the day.

We would love to make you welcome.
